Inclusive Play

In order to provide facilities for children of varying needs, Crawley Play Service has carried out major adaptations to three of our sites.

Millpond Adventure Playground

This unique site opened in May 2003 after extensive alterations to the play building and big investment in new play structures. The facility now offers fun for all and is accessible to families with children who have additional needs and disabilities.

Millpond has a medieval theme and children can let their imagination run wild in the 15sqm castle that is packed with exciting activities. There is a soft 'jail' area with sponge shapes to climb on, a climbing wall, giant slide and daily art, sand and water activities.

Millpond is a great place for families with younger children or those that like a quieter setting, there are picnic areas, plenty of seating, parking for disabled visitors, changing facilities and access for wheelchairs and buggies.

The Millpond has a small secure toddler area. This area offers under 6s the opportunity to play with exciting age appropriate equipment. The supervision of children under 6 remains the responsibility of parents/carers.

Organisations may visit Millpond during term time from 10am. As well as use of the outdoor facilities and sensory room we can offer activities to meet school curriculum, use of inflatables and barbeques. Please telephone the site for more information.

New for 2008/09

After a successful Lottery application, the Millpond Adventure Playground has received an investment of £35,000 towards the improvement of facilities for children and young people with additional needs.

Improvements so far include:

Cherry Lane Adventure Playground

This site offers inclusive play more appropriate for older children. The ‘Wild West’ themed play town has a ‘jail’ area with 30ft aerial runway and giant slide to aid escape. There are traverse and vertical climbing walls that join the jail to the country saloon where there are more fun activities. Children can play in the Native Indian settlement and the look-out tower and mineshaft.

The site makes for an enjoyable family day out, with picnic areas and secure under 8s area for our smaller visitors, parking for the disabled and access to DDA compliant toilet and changing facilities.

Creasys Drive Adventure Playground

Creasys Drive offers inclusive play set in a wooded area. The jungle theme has a tree house linked with high rise nets, a giant slide, aerial runway, climbing cube, leopards leap agility challenge, basket swing, jeep and pull up wall.

This site also has a patio area and picnic deck for parents to accompany children, access ramps, specialised parking and toilet and changing facilities to enable children with disabilities to enjoy a comfortable visit.

Waterlea Adventure Playground

Although there are no designated disabled parking spaces you may ring the site prior to your visit for us to arrange specific parking for you. There are also DDA compliant toilet facilities.
