Crawley's Neighbourhoods

Langley Green Festival

Crawley was originally made up of three separate villages: Crawley, Ifield and Three Bridges. In 1947 Crawley was designated as a New Town, to be developed around 9 neighbourhoods.

Each neighbourhood was to have the same basic structure, with enough shops to meet day to day needs, plus a primary school, church, community centre and pub. Homes for the elderly and disabled would be built close to the neighbourhood centres for the convenience of the residents.

Crawley now has 13 neighbourhoods, all with their own different character. Look in the menu on the right to find out more about each one, including local news and events.

Do you want to know more about the history of Crawley's neighbourhoods?

Crawley Art Council have produced a leaflet with details of a 30 minute town centre stroll which takes in points of historical and artistic interest in the town and also a broader neighbourhood trail which focuses on the points of interest and the rich heritage that can be found in Crawley’s various neighbourhoods. Neighbourhood Forums

In Roman times the Forum was the meeting place where people would come together to discuss issues facing them and build bonds and relationships with their fellow citizens. Crawley currently has three neighbourhood forums in Langley Green, Broadfield and Three Bridges, giving local people a voice that they are able to make heard. The Community Development team works with ward councillors to help residents run their own forums.

Forums meet between 4 and 6 times a year, with management committee members meeting more regularly to plan and set agendas. Click on the links abouve to find out more.
