The Development Control team are responsible for all planning applications including works to trees and listed buildings. Development Control ensures all applications for new developments comply with local planning policies, as well as complex planning law set by the government. The team also deals with appeals against refusals of planning permission and ensures that work is carried out as approved.

If you are not sure it would be wise to obtain a LDC. A LDC is a certificate issued by CBC upon application which confirms either;
- A proposed development doesn't require planning permission from CBC or
- Development that has already taken place either didn't need planning permision or took place so long ago its immune from enforcement actions
LDC for existing use or a LDC for proposed use or development; you will be able to use this certificate in the future if, for example, you sell your house and the buyer needs to see that work you have undertaken was properly authorised.
From 6 April 2008 the Government introduced a new standard planning application form (1APP) and a revised validation checklist for all applications (click on the link for more details on 1APP). These changes are part of the Government’s campaign to streamline the planning system and encourage the submission of applications online at www.planningportal.gov.uk

Payments by debit card do not incur a charge. Payment by cheque, cash or online (through the Planning Portal) are also accepted methods.
