Taxes and Benefits

Five Pound Note

The Revenue Services division provides a variety of services direct to the residents and businesses of Crawley. These include:-

Council Tax

Based on the value of properties at 1 April 1991, this money is used to fund the services provided by the council.

Council Tax Benefit

Council Tax benefits are an income related benefit designed to help people on low incomes pay their Council Tax. Your bill may be reduced (or may be nil) if you qualify.

Housing Benefit

This is an income related benefit designed to help people on low incomes pay their rent. It is available to council and private tenants.

Discretionary Housing Payments

These are additional payments available to people who already get housing or Council Tax benefit but need some extra financial help.

Business (Non Domestic) Rates

The council levies and collects non-domestic rates from businesses based on the rateable value set by the Valuation Office Agency www.voa.gov.uk.
