Global Warming and Climate Change are a fact, and the kinds of extreme weather we have been getting in the last few years are predicted to get worse. It is being caused by the release of ‘Greenhouse Gases’ like Carbon Dioxide, which are heating up our planet and causing changes in our weather patterns.
Crawley Borough Council recognises that Climate Change is likely to be one of the key drivers of change within our community this century, having far reaching effects on our economy, society and environment. In response, the Council is taking a lead in addressing this issue within the Borough, and are keen to work with local companies, organisations and residents in delivering the UK Climate Change Programme.
We have assessed our progress on the first year’s actions in the corporate climate change strategy and will be developing new actions as part of our first review of the strategy.
We have signed up to the 10:10 campaign which means that we are aiming to cut our emissions by 10% in 2010. We have been making good progress so far. For more information on 10:10 at Crawley view the 10:10 at Crawley Borough Council page. More information on our 10:10 achievements can be found on the 10:10 Achievements page.
