Planning and Development breaks down into four main areas - Development Control, Enforcement, Forward Planning (policy and guidance) and Building Control.
Development Control is responsible for all planning applications, including work to trees and listed buildings.
Planning Enforcement is responsible for investigating unauthorised development and land use. To report an alleged breach of planning control please fill out the Planning Enforcement form.
Forward Planning is responsible for ensuring the future development of Crawley is sustainable and meets the needs of the community and the local economy. (also known as Policy and Guidance).
Building Control ensures that all new building work is built according to national building regulation standards for health, safety and benefit everyone. The council’s building control service is operated by Sussex Building Control on behalf of Crawley Borough Council and Horsham District Council.
Planning information is available during normal office hours (8am – 6pm) on the ground floor of the town hall. For planning matters an officer is available by appointment between the hours of 10am and 1pm Monday to Friday.
