Crawley Borough Council is committed to improving your local environment and doing the best we can to protect it for the future.
“Crawley Borough Council recognises that as the level of government closest to the people, and as the single body with most influence over the quality of life of our citizens, we have a duty to act responsibly with respect to the environment in all our policies and actions.”
Therefore we are implementing an environmental management system, called EMAS, to identify and minimise our environmental impacts and comply with legislation, setting targets for improvement.
We're doing our bit for the environment; the Green Guide to Crawley helps you do you’re your bit.
The Green Guide provides information on a range of issues affecting our environment, from climate change to transport. It offers advice and information on what you can do to help.
Your contribution, no matter how small, is vital. Together, we can improve our environment and quality of life in Crawley.
Better Tomorrows is an independent not-for-profit company, on behalf of West Sussex County Council. Their aim is to stop rubbish going in the bin. They have produced a booklet which shows how people can get involved in everything from growing their own veg with home produced compost to becoming a waste prevention advisor or tree warden.
There are also features on communities coming together to promote a series of environmental challenges - such as the village that has banned plastic carrier bags - and also a look at how businesses are becoming ‘greener’ and cutting their costs at the same time.
The booklet is called Small Change Big Difference and is available to download or read online here.
