Community Centre Charge Subsidies

There are subsidies available on the standard charge for regular hirers of community centres. Read the notes below to see if your organisation qualifies for a subsidy.

Activity

To qualify for a subsidised hire rate, the hirer should be able to demonstrate that the activity is providing a direct benefit to local health, social care or education issues.

Equal Opportunities

To qualify for a subsidised rate, the hirer should:

• Be able to demonstrate evidence that the activity specifically targets and attracts groups within the community who may not be able to afford commercial hire rates
• Be able to demonstrate evidence of actively implementing equal opportunities
• Be able to demonstrate that activities are open and accessible and actively encourage and welcome new members

Finance

To qualify for a subsidised hire rate the hirer should:

Be able to demonstrate that income, surpluses and any reserves are used to further the objectives of the organisation and not for profit or individual gain

Be able to demonstrate that the activity is organised effectively and efficiently so that reasonable sources of income are attained and that expenditure is in accordance with the objectives of the organisation.
