Crawley Re-Inspection of Housing Services

The Audit Commission has published its report on the re-inspection of Crawley Homes and has given the service a one-star rating with promising prospects for improvement. This is a significant improvement on the 'zero star uncertain prospects for improvement' rating of two years ago.

The report says that the council has worked hard to improve services to tenants and in some key areas tenants now receive a much better service and their homes are in a better condition. There is more work to be done but the service is on track to deliver further improvements.

You can find out more by viewing the Audit Commission’s full report and the council’s press release.

Fire safety

It is our duty as a council to conform to the Regulatory Reform Order (Fire Safety Act 2005) which came into effect in October 2006.

All communal areas in blocks of flats need to be kept completely clear of items that could burn, at all times.

These items include:

Your safety is important to us and any items left in communal areas are not only a potential fire hazard but could prevent you from escaping in an emergency.

This legislative requirement has at its heart the need to create as safe an environment as possible for you, and residents are responsible in helping us to meet these aims. Fire Risk Assessments are currently taking place throughout our council blocks and hostels.
