Births Marriages and Deaths

All births, marriages and deaths have to be registered. The information on these pages should help you contact the right people.

Birth

To register a birth, contact the Registrar on 01293 651752. Appointments are available at the Crawley Register Office, Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm.

If you need a copy of a birth/death/marriage certificate, contact the Superintendent Registrar at the Crawley Register Office, West Sussex County Council, Southgate Avenue, Crawley, RH10 6HG. Tel: 01293 651752.

This office holds records going back to 1837 and is open Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Marriage & Civil Partnership

If you want to marry in England or Wales, you can have either a religious or a civil ceremony. A civil wedding can take place in either a register office, or other approved premises.

The Superintendent Registrar's office at the Town Hall has now closed, relocating to the new library building on Southgate Avenue.

You must contact the Registrar if you intend to have a civil ceremony, or any religious ceremony other than Church of England or Wales.

Since December 2005, couples of the same sex can have their relationship legally recognised in England and Wales.

Death
