On 6 April 2008 the Government is introduced a new standard planning application form (1APP) and a revised validation checklist for all applications. These changes are part of the Government’s campaign to streamline the planning system and encourage the submission of applications online, by accessing the Planning Portal www.planningportal.gov.uk
The new standard planning application form replaces all existing types of planning application forms (except minerals), and is the only legal way of submitting a planning application in England.
From 6 April 2008, there are new criteria to clarify what information needs to be submitted with an application, providing certainty as to what information is required at the start of the process.
The checklist comprises of a National List and a Local List of requirements.
The Local List of requirements was adopted by the council on 8th October 2008 and is now published on the website. All applications must adhere to the requirements of both the National List and Local List.
There is further guidance and information on 1APP and the validation checklist in The Validation of Planning Applications – Guidance for Local Planning Authorities (prepared by Department of Communities & Local Government)
