BELONGING Bandstand programme

BELONGING Bandstand programme Family High Street All Ages Free 04/07/2018 10/07/2018 BELONGING Bandstand
An exciting installation by award-winning, contemporary designer Morag Myerscough, co-commissioned by Ditchling Museum of Art + Craft and Brighton Festival, is coming to Crawley from Monday 2 July to Wednesday 11 July.
The bandstand, funded by Arts Council England, is touring Sussex throughout the summer and will be showcased in the Historic High Street.
This bright, mobile bandstand features a crown adorned with placards created through workshops with people from the towns it visits, that change to show off the communities' own designs, expressing their sense of belonging.

Morag is internationally-renowned for her distinct and colourful approach. She makes large scaffold structures adorned with neon geometric patterns and shapes, often incorporating positive messaging, hand painted on plywood. Working with community groups, she develops ideas to reflect the identity of the users, drawing on the shared cultural history and heritage of the area.
