Smith & Western Restaurant
The Smith & Western restaurant is located at the top of Tilgate Park and serves authentic American style food from salads to sizzling steak for all the family.
All lake based activities, including fishing and boating in Tilgate Park, are managed by Dynamic Adventures .
Tilgate Park Play Area
The play area is located to the left of the main driveway and opposite the main car park. It is free to enter the play area, although there is a charge of £3.00 if you wish to park in the main car park. To see what’s included in the play area click on the link below:
Tilgate Park Outdoor Gym
As part of our commitment to help people live a more active lifestyle, we have installed a free to use Outdoor Gym. The gym is similar to a conventional indoor gym but the equipment has been specially designed for use outdoors. It is free to use, accessible in all weather conditions and suitable for varying fitness levels.

Tilgate Forest Golf Centre
Tilgate Forest Golf Centre is set within the magnificent wooded countryside of the High Weald of Sussex adjoining the Tilgate Forest Park. This outstanding location offers unparalleled views. The park covers some 400 acres and was once part of the Tilgate Estate, which covered much of the surrounding area.
The Walled Garden
The Walled Garden situated in the heart of Tilgate Park and once formed part of the historic Tilgate Estate. The Walled Garden has enjoyed a rich history from a kitchen garden to the gentry, to a horticulture research station and to it’s current use as a garden for everyone to enjoy. Walled Garden Cafe and Picnic Area
The Walled Garden café serves snacks, ice creams, sandwiches, baguettes and drinks as well as having an outside patio area.
Summer opening hours:
10:00am – 5:00pm.
Winter opening hours:
10:00am – 4:00pm.
Please note - dogs are excluded from the Walled Garden.
Within the Walled Garden is the incredibly popular maze that has been designed to be fun to use but not too difficult to reach the look out tower in the centre. The route from the entrance to the base of the tower is 135 metres. The maze is free to enter and is open to anyone wishing to give it a try!
The Walled Garden is home to some stunning examples of different types of gardens and planting including – a Family Garden, Wildlife Garden, Formal Garden, Allotment Garden, Society Garden, Outreach Garden, Rockeries, Herb Garden and a Rose Garden.
Next to the Nature Centre and Walled Garden Café are eight craft studios. Local artists, craftspeople and wellbeing practitioners are based here and many are open to the public. These include a photographer, pewter jewellery maker and mosaic craftsman as well as:
