Based in Crawley with some duties at London Gatwick Airport
Fixed term contract for 3 months but with a very high possibility of extension
Crawley Borough Council is pleased to offer an opportunity within our Environmental Services Team with the chance to learn about Imported Food Control. This role would suit a newly qualified person or someone wishing to broaden their skills base to include Port Health controls.
As Environmental Health/Port Health Officer in our busy team you will need to be familiar with practices and legislation relating to environmental health and have a proven background in general district type work. In this role you will also have the opportunity to learn about imported food if this is an area you have not worked in before.
You must hold a relevant qualification to be qualified as an inspector of food stuffs i.e. be an auxiliary veterinarian and hold Environmental Health Officers Registration Board certificate or equivalent. Some additional weekend duties working at London Gatwick Airport may be offered with additional remuneration for suitably qualified and competent candidates.
You will need to be able to keep clear and accurate records, work to tight deadlines and have a positive attitude, plus be a good team player and possess excellent customer skills in a fast moving environment. Knowledge of EU 669/2009, EU 884/2014 and 2018/1660 would highly beneficial.

This role is subject to external funding and will be reviewed in April 2019 but there is a very high possibility of further extension.
