Emergencies can happen to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Some may be caused by natural events, such as weather conditions. Others, unfortunately, may be caused by human action.
Emergency planning involves assessing threats and where possible preventing them, tackling major emergencies when they occur, carrying on business as usual and restoring normality afterwards. As far as we are concerned, the Council’s main role is to support the emergency services, voluntary agencies and other agencies by responding promptly and appropriately to any major incident which occurs within or impacts on the borough.
The Emergency Planning Section is responsible for creating a Major Emergency Plan – see the Emergency Plan page for more. The Section also co-ordinates the planning, training, exercising, activation, and the management of the Borough Council's response to emergencies.
