Local Neighbourhood Improvement Area Action Plan 2011 - 2013
Last August a range of professionals from both the statutory and voluntary sectors in West Sussex analysed some of the main challenges faced by people living in Crawley’s Local Neighbourhood Improvement Areas, and identified a number of ways in which those challenges could be met.
£80,000 of funding has now been identified to commission work that will help to tackle the inequalities that our joint working has identified in the town. The EOI background & priorities document sets out what those priorities are and also invites groups and organisations (not individuals) working with local people in Crawley to bid for some funding to help achieve specific outcomes under: Parenting, Health Inequalities and Financial Inclusion. These should be either statutory organisations, social enterprises or not-for-profit organisations.
Each of our three target priorities has a sum of money set against it. We are keen to hear your approach for how your organisation could use that money to meet some, or even all, of the objectives and outcomes set against those priorities. We are looking for approaches that we believe are workable, that will reach a broad range of residents of the local neighbourhood improvement areas and are evidence based where possible. We would like to be able to fund a range of projects, but if one bid convinces the panel that it really would make a difference, then all of the money under one priority could go to just one bid.
Councillor Nigel Boxall, Cabinet member for Community Engagement, said: “This is a great opportunity for local groups and organisations to work with us and help to address some of the challenges faced by people living in the town’s more deprived areas.
“Some of these projects, like those to enable children and young people to reach their full potential will help to tackle other issues like anti-social behaviour and general wellbeing. All of these projects are set to help many families and individuals live a happier and healthier life.”
