Crawley has 49 CCTV cameras, which operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days of the year. Fifteen of these cameras are located in the town centre, the remainder are on the neighbourhood parades, the skate park at Southgate Playing Fields, Bewbush Pavilion and Bewbush Park, Breezehurst Drive. Sussex Police monitor the cameras.
Although CCTV cameras alone cannot reduce crime and disorder, their use with other measures can help to reduce people’s fear of crime, making them feel safer when out in the town.
The council also has a standalone CCTV system at Milton Mount walled garden.
If you believe that your property has been damaged, intentionally or accidentally and that one of our CCTV cameras may have captured this, you will need to report this matter to the police. The police can then research the relevant camera footage as part of a police enquiry. To report an incident you can call the police on 101.
