Manor Royal Business District

Article 4 Direction at Manor Royal – Light Industrial (Class B1c) units

On 16 October 2017 a further Article 4 Direction was brought into force by the Council. This removes a temporary permitted development right that would otherwise allow the change of use of buildings from light industrial (B1c) to residential use (C3) without the requirement to obtain planning permission. This follows a 12 month notification period and consideration of the feedback submitted to the council during a three-month consultation period. Find out more.

Manor Royal is already subject to two Article 4 Directions. These remove permitted development rights that had allowed buildings in office (Class B1a) and storage & distribution (Class B8 ) uses to change to residential (Class C3) use through the prior approval process. The Directions came into force on 29 July 2016, and planning permission will be required where change of use from B1a or B8 to C3 is proposed.
